Welcome to "Writing in Chaos," an ongoing series dedicated to all authors, from aspiring to seasoned, who juggle the whirlwind of life's demands while pursuing their writing dreams. In this introductory blog post, I'd like to share my own journey and show you that despite the relentless chaos life throws our way, you can accomplish your writing goals.
My name is Connie, and I wear many hats. I'm a mother of four incredible kids, ranging in age from 23 to a lively 3-year-old. Balancing the joys and responsibilities of parenthood has been one of my greatest challenges and sources of inspiration.
On top of being a mom, I'm a serial entrepreneur running not one, but two businesses. The hustle and bustle of managing these ventures is a daily adventure in itself.
But the chaos doesn't stop there. I also play a crucial role in caring for my elderly mother-in-law, which, as many of you may know, is both rewarding and demanding.
In addition to all this, I manage our home and property while my husband works tirelessly to support our family. The responsibilities that come with maintaining a household can be overwhelming, but they've become integral to my journey as a writer.
Perhaps the most unexpected twist in my life's narrative was when we took custody of our (now) three-year-old granddaughter. At that moment, the world seemed to conspire against my writing ambitions. Friends, fellow writers, and even my own inner doubts told me that I would have to put my writing career on hold indefinitely.
But here's the part of the story where "Writing in Chaos" takes flight. Despite the overwhelming responsibilities, I not only managed to continue writing, but I thrived. Since that turning point, I've published four fiction books and six non-fiction books.
But that's not all. I founded Author by Design and the Writer’s Block Box, 2 businesses where I help authors find creative ways to further their craft. I've also taken on volunteer roles with our local writers' organization, further immersing myself in the writing community.
My life is, without a doubt, absolute chaos. Yet, every day, I find a way to make it work, to carve out precious time for my writing, and to pursue my passion with unwavering determination.
Through the "Writing in Chaos" series, I hope to inspire and guide you on your own writing journey. Together, we'll explore strategies for managing chaos, staying motivated, and achieving your writing goals, no matter how demanding life may be.
